to theology, missions, and church history. A few of the links
will be of particular interest to scholars of women and religion.
The site is maintained by the Billy Graham Center Archives and
is particularly strong in links to evangelical sources.

Guide to Uncovering Women's History in Archival Collections
An extensive guide to the websites of archives, libraries, and
other repositories that have primary source material by or about
women. This site, a project of the Archives for Research on
Women and Gender Project at the University of Texas at San Antonio
Libraries, is updated every two to three months.
H-Women
Archival and Manuscripts Links
This list, compiled by Humanities and Social Sciences OnLine,
includes links to women's archives and special collections at
university and research libraries around the world.
Archival
Sites for Women's Studies
A list of archival collections related to women's studies, arranged
geographically and maintained by the Women's Studies Section
of the Association of College and Research Libraries. Links
are updates weekly.
The
National Union Catalog of Manuscript Collections
Close to 500,000 records available in the Research Libraries
Information Network bibliographic database, for archival and
manuscript collections in research libraries, museums, state
archives, and historical societies located throughout North
America. This is also where NUCMC has produced its online cataloging
since 1986/87. Access to this gateway is provided as a service
of the Library of Congress. |

Billy
Graham Center Archives
The website includes virtual exhibits and a searchable database
of the Billy Graham Center's archival holdings. The collection
includes a large volume of material related to women missionaries
and some records of evangelical women clergy.
British
Methodist Archives, Sources for Women's Studies
This site is maintained by the Methodist Archives and Research
Centre at the John Rylands University Library of Manchester,
the official repository for the British Methodist Church. It
includes a brief history of women in Methodism and several photographs,
as well as description of the collection's holdings related
to the study of women.
Gannon
Center Women and Leadership Archives
This collection, housed at the Ann Ida Gannon, BVM Center for
Women and Leadership at Loyola University, includes records
of women in civic, educational, religious, and business life,
primarily in Chicago and the Midwest. Among others, it contains
materials related to the Women-Church Convergence and other
progressive Catholic women's organizations.
Jewish
Women's Archives
This site includes online exhibits about Jewish women, a list
of recommended resources, and a searchable database of materials
related to Jewish women held in various libraries and archives
throughout the country (see "virtual archive"). It
is maintained by the Jewish Women's Archives, located in Brookline,
MA.
Southern
Baptist Women's Missionary Union Archives
The webpage includes an introduction to the history of the WMU,
virtual exhibits related to Lottie Moon and Annie Armstrong,
and a list of selected holdings. The archive is housed at the
Hunt Library, in the WMU's national headquarters in Birmingham,
Alabama.
Women
Hymn Composers before 1900
This site includes information about at least 100 women who
composed hymns prior to 1900. In addition to biographical sketches,
there are scores and MIDI files for many of the women, as well
as links to related sites about women composers and lyricists.
The list is maintained and updated monthly by Donald McKillican,
the music director of L'Eglise Communautaire du Village, a small
church in Montreal. |

Resources
for American Women's History
This well-organized site has links to archives, oral histories,
publications, and public records useful for the study of American
women's history (see "finding primary sources"). It
is maintained by Ken Middleton at Middle Tennessee State University
Library.
Bibliography
on Women and Religion
A searchable database of more than 2500 books about women and
religion. The list includes books published in English since
1970, and is updated annually or semi-annually by Susan Walter
Lau, a religion professor at Notre Dame University. |

Barnard
College Women's Center Library
The Myra Josephs/Birdie Goldsmith Ast Resource Collection,
on the first floor of Barnard Hall, contains hundreds of books
concerning women and gender and subscribes to over one hundred
and twenty feminist periodicals. The Center's ephemeral collection
is its most unusual feature, consisting of materials, organized
by topic, often not found in libraries -- pamphlets or reports
published by women's organizations, leaflets, conference proceedings
and unpublished articles on women and women's movements worldwide.
Columbia
University Rare Book and Manuscript Library
The site includes links to Columbia's online finding aids
and several search engines for locating archival materials
throughout the United States (see "subject guides").
There is also an extensive list of links to other archives
and manuscript collections ("related internet resources").
There are also links to more than 8000 digital images from
the medieval and renaissance collections at Columbia, Union,
and elsewhere.
Jewish
Theological Seminary Archives
The Jewish Theological Seminary Archives are richj
in primary sources for research in Bible, rabbinics, Jewish
philosophy, liturgy, history, and medieval Hebrew literature.
The collection is particularly comprehensive in rabbinics
- the Talmud and cognate literature.
Teachers
College, Special Collections
The Milbank Memorial Library at Teachers College, Columbia
University contains rare books and manuscripts related to
the history and theory of education and the papers of important
organizations and leaders in the field. It holds several extensive
and historical collections of children's literature. The library
also maintains the records of the Board of Education, City
of New York and a number of social service agencies in the
city.
