Funding the AWTS

The Archives of Women in Theological Scholarship has benefited from the generosity of public and private funding agencies and individual supporters. In the initial years of the project, the bulk of AWTS resources will be devoted to building, processing, and caring for the collection and making materials accessible to researchers. Recent funding includes:

For the year 1998-1999:

• $36,500 planning grant and seed money, the Carpenter Foundation
• $10,000, Anne Hale Johnson, unsolicited gift
• $30,000, prominent philanthropist, "bridge loan"
  
  

For the years 2000-2002:

• $79,325 for archival processing, the National Historical Publications and Records Commission;
• $8 million for the renewal of the Burke Library, of which $210,000 is allocated for archival processing of the AWTS collection, the Lilly Endowment;
